Clients require a Mental Health Care Plan (completed by a GP or psychiatrist) to be seen under the Medicare ‘Better Access’ program. Under this program, clients are eligible to receive 10 sessions per year with a Medicare rebate. Clients with an eligible Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) are eligible for the Medicare rebate of $137.05 (50+ minute appointment) for sessions with a clinical psychologist. The option for credit card payment and automatic Medicare processing is available to streamline this process. Cherie is also a provider for most private health funds.
The consultations are a standard 50-minute duration but Cherie requests that you allow an hour for your appointment. The rate charged for Cherie’s clinical psychology consultations is considerably lower than the current Australian Psychological Society (APS) recommended rate and the fee will be discussed prior to your appointment. This is a private billing practice and as such an out-of-pocket fee is incurred.
